I called the Cat service desk and also no luck, the only thing they could tell me was the serial numbers for V50 lifts.

Im trying to find a serial number stamped somewhere on it but so far have had no luck locating it. Now we have things like B9H, RJG, 2BW, & SPD as prefixes and they haven't even got warmed up yet.Ībout the same time off-highway machinery was included into the International System of Vehicle Identification Numbers or VIN, so now we have a 17-digit plate just like you'd see on your car, although in Cat's case it's called a P(roduct)IN plate. I have a V50 (from what I was told) forklift that has no data tags on it, estimate it was built back in the early 1980s. The same thing applied to the prefix, but then after years of 2U, 4X, etc, all of a sardine they ran out of prefixes and had to add a 3rd digit to them. You can find it near the dashboard, next to the steering wheel. The nameplate on Caterpillar forklift looks like the image below. Many brands have all of the required data stamped on aluminum data plates (nameplates). But at that time no-one had figured they were going to turn out on-highway truck engines by the tens of thousands. The best way to find serial number on any forklift brand is to check name plate or data tag. specifically for high-production mining and heavy-duty construction applications worldwide. There weren't as many models for a start and it was usually unecessary to go to the extent of a 5-figure Serial Number, up to 9999 machines of a given model was fine. The Caterpillar 797 is a series of off-highway, ultra class, two-axle, mechanical powertrain haul trucks developed and manufactured in the United States by Caterpillar Inc.

Is it possible to tell the machine age with the above I am wanting to buy new anchor pins for the chains - the manual says it is part number 34.108. Back in the mists of time, about the time JC was a carpenter and the world was a sunnier, happier place - things were different. I recently purchased a fixer-upper Clark TM15 forklift along with a parts manual - am using it to move stuff around my shop.
